News

A bad day at the office tonight for the boys where too many handling mistakes and poor passing cost them dear. Robert Emmetts scored a goal in the first minute before adding on two more points in the opening 2 minutes to leave Milford facing an uphill battle from the very start. Despite missing 4 key players Milford were far too often their own worst enemy. There was no reserve game tonight as Robert Emmetts have not fielded in the reserve league. Next week the club has a free weekend, although training is provisionally penciled in for next Saturday.

Congratulations to the senior ladies who defeated Ardara in the Intermediate Gaelteact Final last Monday on a scoreline of 5-7 to 3-8. Played in very bad weather conditions this was a thrilling game contested between two equally matched teams with the lead changing hands all through the game and the final score in doubt right up to the last minute. Ardara were out of the blocks quickest and had a couple of points on the board before Milford responded with a goal from Amber Barrett. It was pretty much nip and tuck for the rest of the first half and Ardara went in at half time two points up. The second half was just like the first in that the two teams traded score for score with the lead going from one team to the other. But when Ardara got a run of scores  it looked all over for the Milford girls as they went six points down with six minutes to go. But this is a team who never give up and by showing great heart, commitment and courage they set about chasing down the lead. An Amber Barrett penalty set them on their way and this was quickly followed up by another goal. The momentum was all with Milford now as they opened up a two point lead. There was still time for drama at the end with a great goal line clearance from Shannon McGroddy which ended with a sweeping move up the field and a final goal for Milford to secure the result. The ladies team would like to thank Ardara for a very sporting game and also all the supporters who braved the elements to come out and cheer on the team

New York Gaa v Sligo - Connacht Championship
The club would like to congratulate former player Brian Sweeney on being selected for the New York GAA senior team panel for their upcoming Connacht Senior Championship clash against Sligo on Sunday in Gaelic Park, New York. According to the New York GAA website Brian is in contention to be in the corner back position, a position he served his club in for many years with great distinction. This is a magnificent achievement for the Moyle hill man and the club would like to take this opportunity to wish him luck against Sligo and all the best for the rest of the season.
